Just realized that it has been two months since our last posting - where does the time go? We had a wonderful Christmas. We got to celebrate Christmas with Mark's whole family which we haven't done ever! Mia & Leah got to play and swim with their cousins from Conneticut and they had a ball. We wished we lived closer so that they could really get to know their cousins more.
It was fun watching Leah at Christmas. We have entered the "terrible two's" stage so we would tell her that she needed to listen so "Ho Ho" aka Santa would bring her presents. Whenever she wouldn't listen we would tell her that "Ho Ho" wasn't happy and he wanted her to listen. It worked some of the time. Santa came to Uncle Ron's vacation house on Christmas Eve and it was so great watching Leah and even Mia get so excited to have their name called out and given a present from the big guy himself. Mia gladly sat on Santa's lap to get her picture taken but there was NO WAY that Leah would sit on his lap even though he gave her a present!!!
We spent a nice quiet Christmas morning at my mom's. Leah, of course was the first one up and it took all I had to keep her from wanting to open the presnts. Finally after an hour I told her to go wake up LaLa so we could open presents. We spent the entire morning in our pjs and ate a wonderful breakfast. Leah was down for the count before lunchtime!
The weather was great for travel but it was really weird having a green Christmas. I say this as I look out at our front window and finally see snow outside. The girls are so excited about the snow. Leah helped me shovel the sidewalk today. She looks like a little Eskimo all bundled up in her snow gear. Both girls love to go sledding. They have only been sledding once this year on New Year's Eve and there wasn't much snow then. Guess what we will be doing when Mark gets home from work today?!?!
Mia has started gymnastics and after a little bumpy start she really enjoys it. She is the only girl in her class that hasn't taken any gymnastics in the past so there is a little learning curve there. It's fun seeing her bouncing around from station to station with a big smile on her face. She is getting ready to celebrate her 8th birthday in less than a month. She is my little party planner and she loves planning every little detail.
Leah is winning every battle she engages us in!!!!!!!!!! Well it feels like that some days. There is never a dull moment with her. She is growing up so fast. She is starting to form sentences, trying to count to 10 and learning her colors. Her favorite is blue and she knows that Mia likes pink and I like purple so anytime she gets something that is pink or purple she wants to give it to Mia or me.
Hope everyone is having a great start to 2012!
